I heard about the drum set when planning was underway for last year's Rat Run. It comes straight from the mind of Mike Mesey, drummer extraodinaire. His musical career has spanned decades, as has his love of motorcycles.

Rock & Roll and motorcycles have always gone together, but Mike Mesey has taken this relationship to another level. The drummer for the band American Greed has built a one-of-a-kind chopper drum set from real motorcycle parts.
The drum kit features a fork that is the envy of many a chopper at over 10 feet long. The super-stretched fork rises up between twin bass drums and connects to apehanger handlebars that tower over the kit. Mounted to the ends of each handlebar are titanium Zildjian symbols. The chopper drum kit has a custom-fit leather set resting in front of a 14-inch wide rear fender.

LOUIS, July 8, 2010 – Legendary drummer Mike Mesey, a former member of both Chuck Berry’s band and Midwestern classic rockers Head East, has played everywhere from Busch Stadium in St. Louis to a Super Bowl concert in Miami to the Space Center in Pasadena, Calif. He’s toured with such bands as Sammy Hagar, ZZ Top, Boston, Styx and many more from Vegas to Atlantic City and every major biker event across the nation; yet Mesey considers his latest achievement – the construction of a gigantic, custom drum set from real chopper parts – his greatest.
